JEM Timber LTD – Delivery Information & Terms

Supplier Direct Deliveries

Some products sold by JEM Timber LTD may be supplied and delivered directly by one of our approved third-party suppliers.

Supplier Direct products are delivered on behalf of JEM Timber LTD by our network of trusted suppliers. These deliveries may be subject to the individual supplier’s own delivery charges, restrictions and delivery conditions and may therefore fall outside our standard delivery arrangements.

Once your order has been placed, either JEM Timber LTD or the relevant supplier may contact you to confirm delivery arrangements.

Although many Supplier Direct products can be delivered throughout the UK, certain geographical restrictions or additional delivery surcharges may apply depending on your postcode and the nature of the goods ordered.

Estimated Delivery Times

Delivery times are estimates and may vary depending on stock availability, product type, supplier availability and the location of stock.

In-stock products: We normally aim to deliver within 5–7 working days.

Out-of-stock products: Delivery will normally be within 14 working days, although in many cases we may be able to deliver sooner depending on stock location and availability.

Following your order, a member of JEM Timber LTD or the relevant supplier may contact you with a more accurate estimated delivery date.

Delivery Terms & Conditions

1.1 Collection or Delivery

Goods may be collected from our premises once JEM Timber LTD has confirmed that they are ready for collection.

Where delivery has been agreed, JEM Timber LTD, our delivery contractor or an approved supplier will arrange delivery to the agreed delivery location.

1.2 Delivery Dates

Any delivery dates or times provided by JEM Timber LTD are estimates unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

We will make reasonable efforts to deliver within the estimated timeframe but cannot guarantee a particular delivery date where circumstances outside our reasonable control cause delays.

Where appropriate, we may deliver goods earlier than the estimated delivery date, provided reasonable notice is given.

1.3 Deliveries in Instalments

Where an order is delivered in more than one instalment, each delivery will be treated separately.

A delay, problem or failure affecting one instalment will not automatically entitle the customer to cancel or reject the remainder of the order, subject to the customer’s applicable statutory rights.

1.4 Failure to Deliver

Where JEM Timber LTD fails to deliver goods for reasons within our reasonable control and we are legally liable for that failure, our liability will, to the extent permitted by law, be limited to the reasonable additional cost of obtaining comparable replacement goods from the cheapest reasonably available alternative source.

Nothing within these terms is intended to exclude or restrict any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

1.5 Delivery Access & Unloading

Where JEM Timber LTD or one of our delivery partners is responsible for delivering the goods:

1.5.1 Safe access

Delivery will be made as close as reasonably and safely possible to the requested delivery location, taking into consideration vehicle size, road conditions, access restrictions and the driver’s assessment of safety.

Our drivers are not required to take a delivery vehicle onto private property, soft ground, unsuitable roads or any area considered unsafe or likely to cause damage.

Where a customer requests or directs a vehicle onto private property or another area away from a suitable hard road, this will be subject to the driver’s discretion.

To the extent permitted by law, JEM Timber LTD will not accept responsibility for damage resulting from access over unsuitable ground or access routes, except where liability cannot legally be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

1.5.2 Unloading

Unless specifically agreed otherwise, the customer is responsible for ensuring that suitable arrangements are available to receive, unload and safely store the goods.

JEM Timber LTD will not be responsible for damage occurring during unloading where the unloading is undertaken or controlled by the customer or another party acting on their behalf.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a maximum period of two hours will be allowed for unloading a delivery vehicle.

Where unloading takes longer than two hours due to circumstances outside our control, JEM Timber LTD reserves the right to charge reasonable additional waiting, labour and vehicle costs.

1.5.3 Mechanical unloading

Where mechanical handling equipment, lifting equipment or cranage is reasonably required to unload the goods and this has not been included as part of the agreed delivery service, the customer will be responsible for providing suitable equipment and competent operators at their own expense.
